one story has it that shoes with extreme points originated in the middle-ages. a count with deformed feet (most likely bunions) started wearing shoes with long pointed toes to hide the real shape of his feet.
the trend caught on, and soon everyone was wearing the pointy-toed “poulaines”. the irony of this story is that today, pointy toes typically contribute to bunions, and any podiatrist worth his salt would strictly forbid them!
